The summer brought not only sunshine and hot weather but also a new trendy Blog & Website: Cycle Chic Graz!
Cycle Chic is now a worldwide movement – with blogs in 54 cities all over the globe.
It was started by Mikael Colville-Anderson who also blogs at Copenhagenize and launched Copenhagen Cycle Chic in 2006 (www.copenhagencyclechic.com).
The Cycle Chic Movement puts the emphasis on “normal” cycling: people cycling in regular, everyday clothes on regular bikes. As opposed to putting an emphasis on cycling as a sport which requires special gear and clothes. Cycling should become an everyday activity wearing the same clothes than you would anyway for your daily activities. More information about this movement can be found in the Cycle Chic manifesto here.
When Cycle Chic becomes a way of life in a city this often also is an indicator for a robust and respected cycling infrastructure which also means that cycling is pretty safe – like walking – and there’s no need to wear helmets.
The Cycle Chic Graz blog is funded by the CEE project BICY – Cities and Regions of Bicycles.
